Great Britain secured three silver medals on the final day of the European Athletics Indoor Championships, bringing their total medal count to seven.

George Mills finished second in the men’s 3,000m behind Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who claimed his record-tying seventh European indoor gold with a third consecutive 1500m and 3,000m double.

Melissa Courtney-Bryant also earned a silver in the women’s 3,000m, narrowly beaten to the line by Ireland’s Sarah Healy.

GB also took second place in the women’s 4x400m relay, leaving them in eighth place on the overall medal table with one gold, three silvers, and three bronze medals in Apeldoorn.

In the relay, Lina Nielsen, Hannah Kelly, Emily Newnham, and Amber Anning set a national record of 3:24.89 to finish behind the Netherlands in the final event of the championships.

Jade O’Dowda narrowly missed a podium finish in the women’s pentathlon, finishing just behind Ireland’s Kate O’Connor in the final event. O’Dowda was in third place after four events, having set personal bests in the 60m, high jump, and shot put.

However, O’Connor surged ahead in the 800m to finish 30 points ahead of O’Dowda, who recorded a personal best score of 4,751 points.

Team captain Scott Lincoln fell short of a podium finish by just two centimeters in the men’s shot put.

The GB team is expected to be more experienced for the upcoming World Indoor Championships, which begin in Nanjing, China, on Friday, 21 March.

Great Britain’s performance at the European Athletics Indoor Championships showcased strong determination and talent, with the team finishing with seven medals, including three silver.
