GMA raises concerns Over Alcohol, drug Misuse among members

The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has expressed serious concerns about alcohol and drug misuse, as well as sexual misconduct, among some of its members.

GMA President Dr. Frank Serebour stated that these issues compromise patient care, as affected doctors continue to work daily.

Speaking at the GMA’s annual general meeting, Dr. Serebour highlighted an increase in lawsuits against health professionals due to allegations of medical negligence. He stressed the need for swift action to address these behaviors, which reflect poorly on the profession and put patients at risk.

Dr. Serebour added that several cases of sexual harassment by health workers are currently under review by the Medical and Dental Council, underscoring the urgency for the association to address these challenges and uphold the integrity of the profession.
