At the 2024 CAF Awards held in Marrakech, Morocco, Ademola Lookman emerged as the standout winner, being crowned CAF Men’s Player of the Year.

The Atalanta and Nigeria forward had an exceptional year, following in the footsteps of his compatriot Victor Osimhen, marking the first time in decades that two Nigerians have won the prestigious award in consecutive years.

The last such back-to-back victories were in the 1990s by Nwankwo Kanu and Victor Ikpeba.

In the women’s category, Zambia’s Barbra Banda claimed the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award. Banda’s remarkable performances in the U.S.

National Women’s Soccer League, where she led Orlando Pride to the league title, earned her the honor.

She also made history at the Paris Olympics by becoming the first player to score three hat-tricks in the competition.

South Africa’s Ronwen Williams was another major winner, taking home two awards: CAF Goalkeeper of the Year and Men’s Interclub Player of the Year.

His key contributions helped Mamelodi Sundowns clinch the South African Premiership, and his penalty-saving heroics at AFCON 2023 played a pivotal role in South Africa securing the bronze medal.

Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie retained her title as Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year after a stellar season with Paris FC.

Meanwhile, Morocco’s Sanaâ Mssoudy earned the Women’s Interclub Player of the Year award, and Doha El Madani was named Women’s Young Player of the Year.

Senegal’s Lamine Camara received the Men’s Young Player of the Year award for his exceptional displays with both Monaco and the Senegal national team.

Côte d’Ivoire’s Emerse Faé was honored as Men’s Coach of the Year, having led the Elephants to victory in the Africa Cup of Nations, while Lamia Boumehdi won Women’s Coach of the Year for guiding TP Mazembe to the CAF Women’s Champions League title.
