The High Court in Accra has ordered self-proclaimed evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, to open her defence in a case involving the alleged non-consensual sharing of nude images belonging to Prophet Emmanuel Appiah Fomum.
The ruling was delivered by presiding judge, Justice Mary Ekue Yanzuh, who dismissed a submission of no case filed by Agradaa’s legal team. The judge ruled that there is sufficient evidence on record for the accused to respond to the charges.
Despite a request from Agradaa’s lawyers, the ruling was handed down in her absence. The court has since directed prison officials to ensure she is present at the next hearing.
Justice Yanzuh also instructed the defence team to file all necessary witness statements before the next session. The case has been adjourned to July 30 for a case management conference.
Nana Agradaa, founder of the Heaven Way Champions International Ministry, is facing one count of possession of obscene material and three counts of non-consensual distribution of intimate images.
According to prosecutors, the controversial televangelist is alleged to have broadcast explicit images of Prophet Fomum on her former TV station, Thunder TV—now operating as Today’s TV—in 2021.
Three other individuals—Enoch Owusu Kissi, Charles Omane, and Emmanuel Kofi Gyasi—have also been charged with abetment of crime in connection with the same incident.
The case continues to draw significant public attention due to the high-profile nature of the accused and the serious implications of the charges.
