The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has flagged incidents of vote buying in the Ashanti, Savannah, and Western regions as a growing concern.

In its second pre-election observation report, released on November 19, CODEO detailed how political actors have been distributing money and valuables to voters to influence their decisions ahead of the December 7 elections.

The report, covering October 26 to November 8, 2024, was compiled using data from 97 Long-Term Observers stationed across the country. A total of 193 observation reports were analyzed, revealing systemic efforts to sway voters through financial incentives.

CODEO has urged law enforcement agencies to rigorously enforce laws against vote buying and abuse of incumbency to ensure a level playing field for all candidates. It called on all stakeholders to prioritize electoral integrity to uphold Ghana’s democratic principles.
