A book of condolence in memory of Ghanaian highlife icon Charles Kojo Fosu, widely known as Daddy Lumba, will be officially opened today, July 28, at his residence and radio station, DL 106.9 FM, in Accra.

His manager, Philip Appiah-Kubi—popularly known in entertainment circles as Roman Fada—confirmed the development. He said the condolence book will be open to the public, inviting fans and well-wishers to pay their respects.

“We are inviting the public to come. We all love our Daddy Lumba, and we are deeply hurt, but God knows best,” Roman Fada stated.

Daddy Lumba passed away at the age of 60 on Saturday, July 26, while undergoing treatment at the Bank Hospital in Accra. His death has triggered a nationwide outpouring of grief, with tributes flooding in from across the music industry and beyond.

In a related announcement, the Creative Arts Agency (CAA) has scheduled a national candlelight vigil in honour of the late music legend. The event will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

According to the Agency, the vigil is part of a broader international tribute, with simultaneous memorials planned in Ghana, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Netherlands.

“On behalf of the Creative Arts Agency, we warmly invite you to attend a National Candlelight Vigil in memory of the late Daddy Lumba, Ghana’s Highlife music legend,” the statement read.

The CAA emphasized that the vigil will honour Daddy Lumba’s extraordinary contribution to Ghanaian music and serve as a moment of national reflection—celebrating music, culture, and unity. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP by July 31, 2025.

Daddy Lumba’s rich musical legacy, marked by decades of influential highlife hits, has left an indelible mark on the industry, earning him admiration across generations in Ghana and the diaspora.
