Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is set to officially begin his campaign to become the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Flagbearer with a nationwide tour of all 276 constituencies starting Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
The campaign tour is expected to take a grassroots-centered approach, focusing on direct engagement with key party stakeholders.
These include polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, current and former constituency executives, former Members of Parliament, former Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), as well as party patrons and council of elders.
According to a statement from Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team, the tour is aimed at fostering unity and strengthening the party’s base. “It underscores his commitment to listening, building consensus, and reinforcing the Party’s foundation from the ground up,” the release noted.
In a parallel development, the campaign has issued a firm directive to its supporters, urging an end to insults and personal attacks on rival aspirants and their supporters.
The directive, signed by the Campaign’s Communications Director, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, calls on all party communicators, supporters, and volunteers aligned with Dr. Bawumia to “immediately cease and desist from any form of direct or indirect insults, derogatory remarks, and personal attacks against any other aspirant, their families, or their supporters.”
The statement emphasized that all communication should be rooted in facts, constructive comparisons of ideas, and the demonstrable track records of the aspirants. It also warned against a recent trend of political discourse descending into personal and unsubstantiated attacks, saying such conduct contradicts the NPP’s values.
Dr. Bawumia’s team expressed confidence that with the focus firmly on ideas and achievements, the former Vice President’s experience, vision, and qualifications would resonate strongly with NPP delegates across the country.
