Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to spearhead a bold and unifying national transformation agenda during his current term in office.
Speaking at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving held at the State House in Accra, the influential Christian leader urged the President to seize the opportunity of his second leadership tenure to leave a lasting legacy that strengthens Ghana’s economy and promotes national unity.
“Mr. President, within three years, make a difference. Impact this world and change the narrative of Ghana. Let the Cedi thrive under your leadership. Let the Cedi flourish and let things get better and better like never before,” Archbishop Duncan-Williams proclaimed to a crowd of applauding congregants.
The Archbishop also emphasized the urgent need for a long-term national development vision that transcends political administrations. He pointed to examples such as China, India, and Dubai, where century-long development blueprints have guided consistent growth and transformation, calling for Ghana to adopt a similar model.
“Ghana, our motherland, is where our vision and agenda are. Under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, a national agenda will be established to compel all stakeholders to follow that agenda,” he said.
Beyond economic reforms, the Archbishop stressed the importance of instilling a values-based identity rooted in patriotism and faith. He cautioned against the divisive effects of partisan politics, urging Ghanaians to cultivate a deeper love for both God and country.
“We need to develop a strong love for God. Also, love the country and the love for Ghana,” he stated.
The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving brought together political leaders, clergy, civil society organisations, and citizens under the theme of gratitude and hope, as prayers were offered for peace, direction, and unity in Ghana’s future.
