The District Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano South West in the Ashanti Region, Abubakar Sedik, has died.
The DCE reportedly died on Sunday evening, September 20, 2026, after attending a series of official meetings in Kumasi.
Mr Sedik was part of a delegation of DCEs who met the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, at the Kejetia Phase II project site.
The meeting with trader unions at the Kumasi Central Market ended around 5 p.m., after which Mr Sedik and some of his colleagues proceeded to the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council for another engagement with the Minister.
He was reportedly on his way back to the district after the meeting when he complained of severe chest pain.
He later died on Sunday evening.
Initial reports have attributed his death to a heart attack, although an official medical confirmation of the cause was not immediately available.
His death is a loss to the Ahafo Ano South West District and the local government administration in the Ashanti Region.
Details of his funeral and burial arrangements are expected to be communicated by his family and the relevant authorities.
