Fourteen regional representatives have been elected to the Council of State, a body that advises the President on national issues.

The elections, which took place on February 11, 2025, saw a total of 154 candidates vying for the 16 available seats. According to reports, the Electoral College, made up of two representatives from each District Assembly, cast their votes to elect their representatives.

The newly elected representatives will join the President’s 11 appointees to form the Council of State, which is mandated to counsel the President on matters of national importance.
