Thirteen people have been killed in a road crash on the Sege-Tema highway in the Greater Accra Region.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, September 2, involved a Ford Transit and a Toyota Hiace travelling along the highway towards Ada.
The Ghana National Fire Service says 18 people were involved in the crash. Five survivors, who are reportedly in critical condition, have been taken to the Sege Polyclinic for treatment.
Personnel from the Sege Fire Station responded to the accident and assisted with the rescue operation.
The exact circumstances that led to the collision have not yet been established.
The latest incident has renewed concerns about road safety, with motorists urged to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits and avoid risky manoeuvres such as dangerous overtaking while using the country’s highways.
