The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says 50 nomination forms have been purchased for the party’s 2026 National Officers Elections.
The Committee says the nomination process closed on Saturday, August 22, describing the exercise as peaceful and successful.
The 50 forms were purchased across the nine national executive positions being contested, setting the stage for the next phase of the electoral process.
Following the close of the purchase period, the Committee has opened the filing of completed nomination forms. Aspirants are expected to submit their completed forms and all required supporting documents by Saturday, August 29.
The extension of the filing period by two days is intended to give aspirants sufficient time to complete their documentation and submit their nominations for verification.
The NOEC has also announced that vetting of the aspirants will begin on Monday, August 31 and continue through Thursday, September 3.
The vetting will be conducted according to the various positions.
On Monday, August 31, candidates for the positions of National Chairperson, General Secretary and National Treasurer will appear before the Vetting Committee.
The following day, Tuesday, September 1, the Committee will vet aspirants for National Vice Chairperson.
On Wednesday, September 2, attention will turn to the National Organiser and National Youth Organiser positions.
The vetting process will conclude on Thursday, September 3, with aspirants for National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser and National Women Organiser.
The results of the vetting are expected to be published on September 5, after which aspirants who may have concerns about the outcome will have an opportunity to appeal between September 6 and 7.
The NPP’s National Council and National Executive Committee are scheduled to meet on September 10, while the official notice of poll is expected to be issued on September 14.
The election of the party’s national officers has been scheduled for October 3, 2026.
Among those who have purchased nomination forms for the National Chairperson position are former National Chairman Paul Afoko, former General Secretary John Boadu, former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, Sammy Crabbe and Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
The National Vice Chairperson race has attracted ten aspirants, including Henry Nana Boakye, Kojo Fosu Boadu, Mustapha Abdul-Hameed, Samuel Pyne, Richard Ahiagbah, Abena Pokua Boaitey Amoah, Alhaji Masawudu Osman, Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, George Kwabena Abankwah Yeeboah and Horma Miezah.
The NOEC says the Secretariat has made arrangements for the orderly receipt, registration and secure custody of all nomination documents submitted by aspirants.
The Committee has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting the elections in a fair, transparent and credible manner, with equal opportunity for all candidates.
The October 3 election will determine the party’s next crop of national officers as the NPP prepares for its next phase of internal reorganization and political activity.
