The Ghana Police Service has issued a stern warning to criminals across the country, urging them to abandon their illegal activities as the Service steps up efforts to improve public safety and fight crime.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, reaffirmed the Police Service’s commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing that law enforcement agencies will continue to track down and arrest individuals involved in criminal acts.

He made the remarks on Tuesday, May 19, during an event where the Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana presented him with a plaque and citation in recognition of his leadership in tackling crime, particularly offences targeting mobile money agents and operators.

Addressing participants, the IGP cautioned criminals that modern policing techniques have made it increasingly difficult to evade arrest.

“We want to sound a strong warning to the criminals wherever they are, that we will not give up in our endeavour to make sure that we protect Ghanaians in general. And so, for that matter, they should lay down their arms, they should stop committing crime, because whatever they do and wherever they hide in this our modern day of policing, they can run, but they cannot hide,” he said.

Mr. Yohuno reiterated the Police Service’s determination to clamp down on criminal networks and maintain peace and order across the country.

The President of the Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana, Edward Ofori-Agyemang, praised the IGP for his efforts and leadership in addressing insecurity within the mobile money sector.

He also called for sustained police operations against criminals targeting mobile money vendors, noting that continued action would help strengthen confidence and safety in the sector.
