The legal team representing former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, has announced plans to challenge a court decision that remanded him in police custody over a land dispute at Kitase.

According to his lawyers, an appeal will be filed on Tuesday, March 17, at the Koforidua High Court in a bid to overturn the ruling and secure his release while the case proceeds.

Mr. Blay was remanded on Monday, March 16, after appearing before the Akropong Circuit Court in connection with a dispute over ownership of a parcel of land.

The case follows a complaint filed by an individual claiming ownership of the land, who alleged unlawful activity on the property.

Police subsequently invited Mr. Blay to assist with investigations, but the situation escalated, leading to his arrest and court appearance.

After hearing preliminary details, the court ordered that he be remanded in custody as investigations continue.

His lawyer, Gregory Asiedu, described the remand as unjustified and expressed confidence that the decision would be overturned.

“The appeal will be filed at the High Court in Koforidua,” he said, adding that the legal team will seek a review of the remand order and apply for bail.

He further noted that preparations are already underway to challenge the ruling, insisting that due process must be followed and that his client deserves appropriate legal relief as the case unfolds.
