The Melcom Care Foundation has donated food items and books to four educational institutions as part of activities marking the fifth anniversary of the late founder and Chairman of the Melcom Group, Mr. Bhagwan Ramchand Khubchandani.
The beneficiary institutions are Amanokrom Presbyterian Junior High School, Dzorwulu Special School, Akropong School for the Blind, and Accra Wesley Girls School.
The donation was presented at a ceremony held at the Melcom Head Office in Accra. Speaking at the event, Group Managing Director of Melcom, Mr Ramesh Sadhwani, said the gesture underscores the company’s long-standing commitment to social responsibility, a value deeply rooted in the vision of the late Chairman and which led to the establishment of the Melcom Care Foundation in 2013.
According to Mr Sadhwani, health and education were identified by the late Chairman as key pillars of Melcom’s Corporate Social Responsibility because of their far-reaching impact on society. He noted that over the past decade, the company has invested more than GH¢25 million in community projects within these sectors.
The donated food items, valued at about GH¢40,000, included bags of Platinum Jasmine Rice, cartons of Platinum Corned Beef, Unity Tuna Flakes in Vegetable Oil, Milkana Spreadable Cheese, and bottles of Awake Melcom Water.
The beneficiary schools also received assorted books, including Reflections of the Late Chairman, to support teaching and learning.
On behalf of the recipient institutions, the Girl Child Coordinator of Amanokrom Presbyterian JHS, Eunice Agyeiwaa Marfo, expressed gratitude to the Melcom Care Foundation, describing the donation as timely and impactful.
