Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has called on Members of Parliament to embrace love and peaceful coexistence in their engagements on the floor of the House.
Acknowledging the diversity of opinions lawmakers bring to debates on national issues, the Speaker cautioned against what he described as a growing culture of hatred in Ghanaian politics, stressing that political disagreement should not degenerate into hostility.
Mr Bagbin made the remarks during the first sitting of the second session of Parliament on Tuesday, February 3, where he underscored the importance of healthy and constructive political engagement as a foundation for national development.
He encouraged MPs to adopt attitudes and conduct that foster unity, mutual respect, and collective progress.
“I hope that honourable members will rise above partisanship when circumstances require us to do so. We should uphold the dignity of this House and work collectively to advance national development and improve the lives of our people,” the Speaker said.
