The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has confirmed that the woman seen being assaulted in a recent viral video — which sparked widespread outrage across Ghana — is safe and receiving support.

Speaking to MX24 News on the sidelines of the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, the minister revealed that the victim has been located, rescued, and provided with the necessary psychosocial and welfare assistance.

She further disclosed that the woman’s children have also been identified and removed from the home, adding that they are all “safe and under protection.”

Hon. Lartey noted that court processes have begun in the case as authorities move to ensure justice for the victim.

The Gender Minister reiterated her call to the public to report cases of abuse rather than shield perpetrators. She urged traditional leaders, opinion leaders, and communities to allow the law to take its course.

“Let no one die in silence. Speak up — there is help available,” she emphasized.
