Leader of the newly rebranded United Party (UP), Alan Kyerematen, has outlined an ambitious national agenda aimed at transforming Ghana into the economic powerhouse of Africa by the year 2040.

Speaking at the official launch of the United Party in Accra, Mr. Kyerematen said the new movement represents a fresh chapter in Ghana’s political landscape, one focused on unity, peace, and inclusive development.

“Our vision is to make Ghana the economic powerhouse of Africa by 2040,” he declared, explaining that the rebranded party’s long-term plan, dubbed Vision 2040, will focus on industrialization, innovation, and good governance.

He expressed optimism that the United Party could deliver significant change if entrusted with national leadership.

“By 2040, if the people of Ghana, by the grace of God, give us the mandate, Ghana will become a power nation,” Mr. Kyerematen stated, stressing his belief in Ghana’s potential to rise above current economic and political limitations.

Touching on the core values guiding the new political formation, he underscored the need for unity and peace as the foundation for national progress.

“Can you become the economic powerhouse of Africa if you are divided? No. Can you become the economic powerhouse of Africa if there is no peace in your country? No,” he said.

Outlining the party’s mission, Mr. Kyerematen emphasized inclusivity and social equity. “The party’s mission is to build a united, peaceful, secure, and prosperous nation that provides equal opportunity for every Ghanaian, particularly the youth, women, and vulnerable groups, to realise their full potential,” he affirmed.

The rebranding from the Movement for Change to the United Party marks what Mr. Kyerematen described as a “new dawn” one that seeks to break political divisions and chart a new course for national transformation ahead of future elections.
