The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has announced that the party’s Youth Wing will lead a major demonstration dubbed “Yɛn Suro Ahunahuna” on Tuesday, September 23, in protest against what they describe as political intimidation, harassment, and selective justice.

In a statement posted on Facebook on Thursday, September 18, Mustapha said the protest aims to send a strong signal that the NPP will not be silenced or intimidated by what he called “state-sponsored thuggery” and “political persecution” of party members.

“The ‘Yɛn Suro Ahunahuna’ is a demonstration of our resolve that we will not be intimidated. We remain resolute,” he stated.

The demonstration will begin at Obra Spot in Accra, with participants marching to the Police Headquarters to present a petition to the Inspector General of Police and the National Security Secretariat.

The group will then proceed to the Jubilee House to deliver a final petition to the Office of the President.

Mustapha stressed that the protest is not just a youth-led initiative but a collective effort by the entire party.

“I can confirm that the leadership of the party will be present, and so will the Minority Leader and the entire Minority Caucus,” he added.

Describing the alleged targeting of NPP members as “shameful and reprehensible,” the Youth Organiser said the party will not remain silent in the face of what it sees as growing political oppression.

The demonstration, whose title translates to “We do not fear oppression,” is expected to draw significant support from party members and sympathisers across the country.
