Parliament’s Appointments Committee is set to vet four deputy ministerial nominees on Friday, July 25, in what will mark the final round of assessments for President John Mahama’s deputy ministerial appointments.

The nominees scheduled to appear before the committee are:

  1. James Gyakye Quayson, MP for Assin North – nominated as Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration
  2. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, MP for Jomoro – nominated as Deputy Minister for Transport
  3. Mohammed Adam Sukparu, MP for Sissala West – nominated as Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation
  4. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, MP for Essikado-Ketan – nominated as Deputy Minister for Health

These nominations were submitted by President Mahama on July 9, 2025, in accordance with Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the 1992 Constitution. The formal communication was delivered to Parliament by Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on behalf of the President.

On July 17, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin referred the nominees to the Appointments Committee, emphasizing the importance of a thorough and impartial vetting process.

“Let the committee do its work properly. I will not stampede the House to approve them until the due process is followed,” the Speaker stated.

This final vetting phase brings the administration closer to completing its full slate of deputy ministers, strengthening its governance capacity in critical sectors including foreign affairs, transport, communication, and health.

Once vetted, the nominees will await parliamentary approval before formally assuming their roles within the respective ministries.
