The Parliamentary Appointments Committee has summoned Oliver Barker-Vormawor  to appear before to defend allegations that the committee has been collecting money from ministerial nominees in exchange for their approval.

This comes on the back of claims made by Oliver Barker, which have been strongly refuted by the committee.

To address the matter, Chairman Ahiafor has instructed the Clerk of the Committee to formally invite Mr Barker-Vormawor to appear before the committee.

He is expected to present evidence to back his claims during the scheduled meeting on Wednesday, January 29.

“So, I am therefore directing the Clerk to the Committee to invite him to appear before the committee tomorrow [Wednesday] to substantiate his claims, or we will apply the necessary law,” Mr Ahiafor stated.

He emphasised the importance of maintaining the integrity of the Appointments Committee and its processes.

Some members of the Appointments Committee in the minority NPP have called for the suspension of vetting until the accuser appears before the Committee to respond to the allegations.
