Football’s grandest stage now has its star performer. Adidas has unveiled TRIONDA, the official match ball of the FIFA World Cup 2026, a striking design that honors host nations Canada, Mexico, and the United States while pushing the limits of performance technology.
The name TRIONDA blends “Tri” for three and “Onda” for waves, symbolizing the unity of three countries hosting the World Cup for the first time. Its bold red, green, and blue design reflects each nation’s colors, while gold detailing pays tribute to the famous trophy. The ball is more than a piece of equipment, it is a statement of unity and innovation.
Each panel of the ball carries symbols unique to the hosts. Canada is represented by a maple leaf, Mexico by an eagle, and the United States by a star. These motifs are embossed into the matte base of the ball, giving it both texture and cultural depth. The geometry flows like waves across the surface, connecting the nations through design.
From a performance perspective, TRIONDA uses a new four-panel construction with deep seams and strategically placed textures for flight stability. The embossed icons not only provide visual detail but also improve grip, especially in wet or humid conditions. Adidas says the design ensures the ball performs as beautifully as it looks.
Sam Handy, General Manager at adidas Football, explained: “With TRIONDA, every detail has an impact. The embossed textures, layered graphics, and bold colours make the ball stand out instantly. It’s the most visually playful FIFA World Cup ball we’ve ever created.”
The ball also brings groundbreaking technology. For the first time, the adidas Connected Ball system uses a side-mounted chip, designed in collaboration with Kinexon. This advanced sensor sends real-time data to the VAR system, allowing officials to make quicker offside and handball decisions. It combines precision with AI to track every touch of the game.
Solene Stoermann, adidas Category Director, described TRIONDA as “a ball worthy of the occasion.” She added: “As soon as the tournament hosts were announced, we knew we had to make something special. TRIONDA will be a main character in the biggest show on earth.”
For fans, the reveal of TRIONDA marks the true countdown to 2026. Whether in stadiums like Boston’s Gillette Stadium or in backyards across three nations, this ball is set to carry dreams, drama, and history. It is not just a ball, but the heartbeat of a World Cup that will be unlike any before.
