Germany and Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has announced his retirement from professional football after Euro 2024.

The 34-year-old, who joined Real Madrid from Bayern Munich in July 2014, has had a decorated career, winning La Liga and the Champions League four times each.

In a heartfelt letter to Real Madrid fans, Kroos expressed gratitude for the support throughout his career. He mentioned that his time at Real Madrid has been transformative both as a footballer and as a person.

Kroos highlighted the memorable moments and successes he experienced at the club, emphasizing the warm welcome and trust he received.

Kroos’ retirement from international football in July 2021 was short-lived as he returned in February after discussions with Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann.

However, after Euro 2024, Kroos will bid farewell to his playing career.

Reflecting on his journey, Kroos mentioned his debut for Bayern Munich at the age of 17 and his subsequent achievements with the club, including Bundesliga titles and a Champions League triumph in 2013.

The announcement marks the end of an era for one of football’s most accomplished midfielders, leaving behind a legacy of success and professionalism on both club and international stages.
