Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has signed a new two-year contract, keeping him at the helm until 2027. This commitment comes despite the team’s recent struggles, including four consecutive defeats.
Guardiola has never experienced a four-game losing streak in his managerial career. However, he’s determined to help City bounce back and regain consistency.
“I felt I couldn’t leave now. Maybe the four defeats were why,” Guardiola said. “We deserve to overcome this difficult situation and become more stable and consistent.”
Since joining City in 2016, Guardiola has secured 18 trophies, including six Premier League titles. He’s eager to add more silverware to the club’s collection.
“Being in charge of City means so much to me. I have everything a manager could wish for,” Guardiola said. “This is my ninth season here, and I have a special feeling for this football club.”
City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak welcomed Guardiola’s contract extension. “Pep’s journey with Manchester City will continue, shaping the landscape of the game with his dedication, passion, and innovative thinking.”
City faces a disciplinary case brought by the Premier League over alleged financial rule breaches. Guardiola has backed the club, urging critics to wait for the final decision.
