Denver Nuggets’ star center Nikola Jokic has etched his name among the NBA’s elite after clinching the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the third time, joining a prestigious list of basketball legends.

Jokic, who previously secured the MVP title in 2021 and 2022 and was a runner-up last year, becomes only the ninth player in NBA history to win the award three or more times.

This achievement puts him in the company of icons like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (six-time MVP), Michael Jordan, Bill Russell (five-time winners), and Wilt Chamberlain, LeBron James (four-time winners), alongside Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Moses Malone as three-time MVP recipients.

Expressing his gratitude, the 29-year-old Serbian remarked, “It’s a special moment I’m probably going to remember my whole life.”

In a remarkable season, Jokic averaged 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, and nine assists while recording an impressive 25 triple-doubles.

He also achieved the feat of surpassing 2,000 points, 900 rebounds, and 700 assists in a single regular season, a testament to his all-around dominance on the court.

The runner-up in the MVP voting was Oklahoma City Thunder’s guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, with Dallas Mavericks’ guard Luka Doncic securing the third spot.

Jokic’s outstanding performance propelled the Denver Nuggets to a second-place finish in the highly competitive Western Conference.
