LeBron James has rewritten the NBA record books once again. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar became the first player in history to surpass 50,000 career points on Tuesday night, further cementing his status as the league’s all-time leading scorer. In front of a roaring Crypto.com Arena crowd, the 40-year-old achieved the milestone in vintage style.

Entering the game against the New Orleans Pelicans needing just one point to reach the historic mark, James wasted no time. Early in the first quarter, he collected a pass from Luka Dončić and drained a signature 25-foot three-pointer, sending the arena into a frenzy. The moment underscored his dominance in a career that continues to defy time.

James had already shattered Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s long-standing regular-season scoring record of 38,387 points in 2023. Now, his combined total across regular and postseason play stands at over an astonishing 50,002 which is nearly 6,000 more than Abdul-Jabbar’s career tally of 44,149.

Only a handful of NBA legends have come close. Karl Malone sits third with 41,689 points, followed by the late Kobe Bryant (39,283) and Michael Jordan (38,279). Among active players, Kevin Durant is the closest, trailing James by roughly 15,000 points.

At 40 years old and in his 22nd season, James shows no signs of slowing down. His latest milestone isn’t just a record but it’s a testament to his relentless greatness, leaving fans and future generations to wonder if anyone will ever catch him.
