The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, has issued a challenge to former Ejisu Member of Parliament, Kwabena Owusu Adoumi, regarding his claims of road construction in the constituency.

Adoumi, who has filed a nomination to contest the Ejisu by-election as an independent candidate, has been campaigning on the platform of being responsible for road projects in the constituency.

However, during a mini-rally held at Bonwire, Chairman Wontumi warned Adoumi that he would face arrest if he attempted to undertake any road project, emphasizing that all roads are owned by the government and cannot be fixed by individuals.

“If Adoumi is capable, he should bring excavators to work on the road and see if we won’t arrest him. All the roads are owned by the government. Recently, I saw Adoumi’s vehicle run out of fuel. How can such a person pay for road construction? His claims of building the Bonwire market are also false,” he stated.

The party held the mini rally at the community to canvass support ahead of the by-election and to unite and ignite the party’s grassroots in anticipation of the president’s visit.

Notable members of the party, including former MP Akwasi Osei Agyei, addressed the charged gathering.

Agyei stated that Adoumi’s breakaway from the party depicts his lack of ingenuity, and therefore urged constituents to vote against him.

One of the parliamentary aspirants during the party’s primaries, Maame Yaa Aboagye, called for unity among the party and urged residents to come out and vote for the NPP during the by-election, citing the party’s ongoing projects in the constituency as a sign of further development if they win.

Hundreds of people in attendance expressed their desire for development, particularly in terms of roads and market infrastructure. Mercy Boateng, Queen Mother of the Bonwire market, expressed support for the NPP to help complete their market project and fix their roads.

“We want Lawyer Kwabena Boateng to win and come help us complete our market project and road network,” she noted.

Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, who tipped himself as the best person to lead the constituency during the rally, pledged to address all the needs in all sectors.
