Jürgen Klopp may have left Liverpool behind, but not the love that binds him to the club. The German admitted a future return to Anfield is “theoretically possible,” though he insists he has no desire to step back into management for now. Speaking on Steven Bartlett’s podcast, Klopp reflected on his life after football’s relentless frontline and how his new role with Red Bull has reignited his passion in a different way.

It has been over a year since Klopp’s emotional farewell at Anfield ended a glittering nine-year reign. His tenure transformed Liverpool from a sleeping giant into a European powerhouse once again. Under his guidance, the Reds won every major trophy, including the Premier League, Champions League, and FIFA Club World Cup.

Now 58, Klopp says he is content leading Red Bull’s global football operations, where his energy is focused on development and long-term strategy rather than the weekly grind of the touchline. “I don’t miss coaching. I don’t miss standing in the rain for hours or doing ten interviews a week,” he said. “I coached more than a thousand games. I’ve spent enough time in dressing rooms.”

Still, his bond with Liverpool remains unbroken. “I said I’ll never coach another team in England. So if I return, it would be Liverpool,” Klopp explained. His words instantly sparked hope among fans who still see him as the embodiment of the club’s modern identity.

Klopp also praised his successor Arne Slot, who led Liverpool to the Premier League title in his debut season. He revealed the two have stayed in regular contact and spoke warmly of Slot’s approach. “He’s a super good guy. He got the best out of this team and they became champions in an incredible manner,” Klopp said.

Reflecting on Liverpool’s recent adjustments, Klopp urged patience. “Change always needs time,” he noted, referencing the squad’s new faces after a busy transfer window. It was a reminder of the empathy and understanding that made him beloved by players and fans alike.

For now, Klopp remains at peace, embracing a life without touchlines and team talks. But in football, as he hinted, doors never truly close.
