The Black Princesses are chasing history once again. Ghana’s U-20 women’s side has left the country for Tunisia with one goal in mind: securing yet another ticket to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The first leg of their qualifying tie kicks off on Saturday, September 20, at the Tayeb Mhiri Stadium in Sfax. Tunisia may have home advantage, but Ghana arrives with pedigree and belief, aiming to stretch their World Cup streak to eight consecutive appearances.

The squad is built on a blend of experience and promise. Ampem Darkoa Ladies dominate the list, with Aishetu Awimini Fatao in goal and defenders Diana Amoako and Comfort Yeboah forming a strong spine. The likes of Sarah Nyarko and Thereshah Darko add bite in midfield, while Mercy Attobrah and Ivy Osei Owusu bring pace and flair up front.

For Ghana, this campaign carries weight. Since their debut in 2010, the Princesses have become a fixture on the global stage, regularly testing themselves against the world’s best. Their consistency reflects the growing strength of women’s football in the country, and the players know what is at stake.

Tunisia, meanwhile, will see this as a chance to make a statement. Playing at home, they will look to frustrate Ghana with a compact set-up and test the visitors’ composure in front of a partisan crowd. The battle will not only be about skill, but also mental strength and patience.

The second match could prove decisive, and the Princesses will want to return home with a result that keeps qualification firmly in their hands.
