Aduana FC have been handed a GHS 15,000 fine by the Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee after chaotic scenes marred their Premier League clash against Asante Kotoko on match day 12 of the 24/25 GPL. The Dormaa-based side, two-time champions of the league, was found guilty of failing to control its supporters when tempers flared at halftime.

According to reports, some aggrieved fans allegedly confronted match officials during the break, causing a delay to the second half. Although the Porcupine Warriors ultimately sealed a 2-0 victory, the result was overshadowed by the troubling display of misconduct. Many observers fear this incident reflects a worrying trend of fan violence creeping into the domestic game.

GFA’s statement stating punishment to Aduana FC

The GFA’s decision comes at a time when hooliganism is under intense scrutiny. In a separate tragedy, a Kotoko supporter, Francis Frimpong Pooley, was fatally stabbed during a clash between the Porcupines and Nsoatreman in Nsoatre, further fueling calls for stricter measures. By imposing a significant fine on Aduana FC, the governing body aims to send a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated.

Moving forward, both clubs and fans will be expected to uphold the spirit of the game and prioritize safety at every turn. With league officials determined to restore order, this latest ruling underscores a growing resolve to protect the integrity of Ghanaian football and foster an environment where the passion for the sport does not spill into violence.
