Real Madrid wrapped up their Champions League group stage campaign with a dominant 3–0 win over Brest at the Stade de Roudourou.
The last time Los Blancos faced a Ligue 1 side in France, they suffered a shocking defeat to Lille. Three months later, however, the defending European champions came into their final group-stage match against Brest with their strongest starting XI.
Despite a slow start, Madrid found the breakthrough in the 27th minute.
Rodrygo showcased his dribbling skills, slicing through Brest’s defense with a powerful run into the box, where he finished with a low shot that rattled off the post and in, giving Madrid a 1–0 lead.
Brest thought they had leveled the score in the 51st minute, but Ludovic Ajorque’s goal was ruled offside. Five minutes later, Jude Bellingham doubled Madrid’s advantage.
The hosts’ hopes of a comeback were all but extinguished when Rodrygo scored his second of the night in the 78th minute, sealing the win for Madrid.
While Real Madrid couldn’t finish in the top eight of the group standings, they still advanced to the knockout stage playoffs, where they will learn their opponent in Friday’s draw, following a shaky start to their title defense.
