Brandon Thomas-Asante was the standout performer as Coventry City stunned Swansea City 2-0 at the Swansea.com Stadium, clinching their first-ever victory over the Welsh side.
With this victory, Coventry City rise to 11th place with 41 points.
The Sky Blues took the lead in the 17th minute when Thomas-Asante turned provider, sending a precise ball to Ellis Simms, who finished calmly from close range.
Despite dominating possession, Swansea struggled to break down Coventry’s resolute defense and create any significant chances.
Just before the break, Thomas-Asante doubled the visitors’ lead in dazzling fashion.
Picking up the ball just outside the box, the Ghanaian winger unleashed a brilliant right-footed strike into the top corner, leaving Swansea’s goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
In the second half, Swansea pushed forward in search of a response, but they lacked the necessary cutting edge, managing only six shots, none of which tested Coventry goalkeeper Ben Wilson.
The Sky Blues, on the other hand, remained clinical, capitalizing on their limited opportunities to secure all three points. Thomas-Asante’s goal and assist bring his season tally to four goals and two assists in 29 Championship appearances.
As they look ahead to their next challenge against Leeds United on February 5th at the Coventry Building Society Arena, the team will be eager to continue their strong form and push for a higher finish in the league.
