Ghana’s Black Queens booked their ticket to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a commanding 4-0 victory over Egypt at the Accra Sports Stadium. The emphatic result, led by a stunning hat-trick from Doris Boaduwaa, sealed a 7-0 aggregate triumph and underlined Ghana’s growing dominance in African women’s football.
The Queens, bronze medalists at the last WAFCON, showed precision, pace, and purpose as they dismantled Egypt in a performance that blended flair with discipline.
The first half ended goalless despite Ghana’s constant pressure. But once the second half began, the floodgates opened. Boaduwaa broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute, calmly slotting home after a swift buildup. Just three minutes later, a clever exchange between Grace Asantewaa and Princess Marfo found Boaduwaa again, who doubled the lead with a clinical finish.
Comfort Yeboah, then scored her first senior goal of the Black Queens, Ghana’s third just two minutes later. Her strike marked a dream moment, one that sent the stadium into pure jubilation. The afternoon belonged, however, to Boaduwaa. Deep into stoppage time, she completed her hat-trick after connecting perfectly with captain Stella Nyamekye’s cross to make it four.
From start to finish, the Black Queens controlled the tempo. Evelyn Badu and Jennifer Cudjoe anchored the midfield with authority, while goalkeeper Cynthia Findiib Konlan stood tall whenever Egypt threatened. Their balance between attack and defense reflected the maturity of a side ready to compete among Africa’s elite once more.
This qualification marks Ghana’s 14th appearance at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, and their second consecutive after missing out in 2022. It also extends a resurgence underlined by their 2025 bronze medal run, where they defeated South Africa on penalties.
With a new wave of confidence, a youthful core, and a talismanic striker in Boaduwaa, the Black Queens are not just returning to the continental stage. They are aiming to conquer it.
