Ghetts has dropped new single, Tumbi, and an accompanying video:
Tumbi sees Ghetts demonstrating his versatility, venturing beyond rap or grime. Produced by Splurgeboys, the song incorporates elements of amapiano and Afrobeats, whilst vocally Ghetts veers away from straight bars adopting a more nuanced, melodic delivery instead. The sun-drenched video was shot in the Caribbean and directed by frequent collaborator Nathan James Tettey (Dave, Headie One, Stormzy).
Tumbi follows earlier singles Laps and Twin Sisters, and all three tracks are taken from Ghetts’ expansive new album, On Purpose, With Purpose, out 23rd February.
On Purpose, With Purpose arrives three years after Ghetts’ last album, the epic Conflict Of Interest, which sparked a paradigm shift in his career. The record received widespread acclaim, reached #2 on the Official UK Albums Chart, and led to a MOBO Award, plus Mercury Music Prize and Brit Award nominations.
