Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has commissioned the University of Ghana Sports Stadium and Ruby Stadium ahead of the 13th All-African Games under the theme,”Experience the African Dreams”.
Also gracing the event was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, Greater Accra Regional Minister Titus Glover, Mr. Majeed Bawuah, Mr. Richard Debrah, Dr. Bello, Dr. Herbert Mensah and the contractors in charge of the facility.
Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, the Executive Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee in his welcome address said this facility is the hub of the nerve center of the All African Games and will give Ghana the opportunity host international athletes competitions.
Dr. Kwaku Ofosu also urged all stakeholders in the upcoming All African Games 2023 to be at their best behavior and comply with the security agency to host the competition very well.
Dr. Kwaku Ofosu also in his speech told Ghanaians to purchase the All African Games T-shirt in support of the competition.
Hon. Mustapha Ussif highlighted that, beyond the competition, this facility will serve as a centre for excellence to groom talents in the sports industry.
H.E Dr. Bawumia said the desire for hosting the games has always been there and now Ghana has gotten the opportunity to host the biggest games on the continent.
The Sports Stadium is set to accommodate a total of 11,000 spectators alongside with the Rugby Stadium.
The Ministry is really grateful for the support and cooperation of all the stakeholders.
