Rotary International District 9104 is gearing up for its annual District Conference (DISCON 24), set to take place at the Golden Bean and Lancaster Hotels in Kumasi from April 12 to 13, 2024.

This will mark the first DISCON for District 9104, which was established a year ago after being culled out of District 9102.

With 66 Rotary clubs, 50 Rotaract Clubs, and Interact clubs boasting a combined membership of over 3,000 Rotarians, District 9104 is preparing for a historic event in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital known for its rich traditions, culture, and warm hospitality.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Rotary-Creating Hope in Ghana,” aligning with Rotary International’s annual theme “Create Hope in the World.”

The conference will feature a range of activities, including District Team Learning Seminar, Club Leadership Seminar, and District Learning Seminar, providing valuable information and new ideas for club officers, directors, and key committee chairs.

The event will also include a presentation of the state of the district, a review of the new RI President’s theme and goals for the coming Rotary year, and the presentation of District goals and objectives, with plans for their implementation.

The program will further encompass events such as the District Governors Cocktail, the main conference, Host/Home Hospitality, Rotary Foundation Lunch, District Governor’s Awards and a Gala.

Notably, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, will be the Special Guest of Honor, delivering the keynote address for the conference.

In anticipation of the conference, Rotary clubs in Kumasi and the Conference Organizing Committee organized a health walk through the city to raise awareness of the upcoming event.

Led by Past Assistant Governor Russell Banful, the walk aimed to promote the activities of Rotary to the people of the Ashanti Region and the nation.

Rotarian Russell Banful emphasized Rotary’s commitment to providing services to promote integrity and advance world understanding and goodwill.

He also highlighted the achievements and projects of Rotary Clubs worldwide, including the eradication of Polio, promoting peace, providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, supporting education and literacy, protecting the environment, maternal and child health, clean water and sanitation, and combating diseases.

Rotarian Matilda Adukuma Adomolga-Adageba, President of the Rotary Club of Kumasi-East, shared that the club recently donated medical supplies to health institutions in the Ashanti Region, including the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), and provided educational learning materials to schools across the region, as well as water projects.

The group has made significant contributions to various sectors in Ghana, including health, education, sanitation, and hygiene.

With the DISCON 24 on the horizon, District 9104 is poised to bring together Rotarians from across the district to discuss the health of the various clubs, outline leadership and learning opportunities, and address crucial matters of national interest and community development.
