President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has disclosed that his administration overlooked development in the Ekumfi District in the Central Region, following the decision of the constituents to vote Francis Ato Cudjoe out of Parliament in the 2020 elections.
The president expressed his discontent with the incident in Ekumfi when he engaged with traditional leaders from the constituency at the Jubilee House.
President Akufo-Addo, while conveying his dissatisfaction noted that despite appointing Ato Cudjoe as Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture to foster development in the region, the constituents chose to vote him out—a decision that did not sit well with the president.
”Ato Cudjoe was your MP and I made him a Deputy Minister and you voted him out in the last elections and because of that, I did not pay attention to development in your area, I have to be honest with you but since you have brought it up I will pay attention to it”, remarked.
The visit to the Jubilee House by traditional leaders aimed to appeal to the president for increased development to uplift the living standards of their people.
In response to the leaders’ plea, President Akufo-Addo, acknowledging his disappointment, assured them that he would strive to address the development needs of the area.
