“I am Unfazed Ahead of Court-Ordered Kpandai Election Re-Run” – Matthew Nyindam

Matthew Nyindam, the candidate at the centre of the Kpandai Parliamentary election dispute, has stated that he remains calm and unfazed as preparations begin for a court-ordered re-run of the 2024 elections in the constituency.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Nyindam insisted that he has “nothing to hide” and that his campaign did not engage in any wrongdoing during the original election. “I am so fine because I am not troubled. We’ve not cheated in this particular election,” he said.

However, he accused the government of exerting undue influence over national processes, suggesting that state actors operate without regard for fairness.

“What I’ve realised is that there is a government that is so strong and whatever they want to do, they will want to do it. They don’t care whether you are right or you are wrong,” he added, describing himself as “just an individual” in the larger political machinery.

The comments come as the Parliamentary Service formally notified the Electoral Commission (EC) of a vacancy in the Kpandai Constituency following a court ruling mandating a re-run of the 2024 Parliamentary Elections.

The notification, dated December 4, 2025, and signed by Clerk to Parliament Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, triggers the administrative process for a fresh poll and was sent to EC Chairperson Jean Mensa in line with Article 112(5) of the 1992 Constitution.

The re-run is expected to determine the constituency’s representative in Parliament after months of legal challenges and heightened political tension. Stakeholders and constituents are now preparing for the new election, which is set to resolve the lingering dispute.
