Hon. Kofi Adams, the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency in the Oti Region, has been nominated by President John Dramani Mahama as Ghana’s new Minister for Sports and Recreation.

This nomination is part of the third wave of ministerial appointments submitted to Parliament for vetting and approval.

Kofi Adams will succeed Mustapha Ussif, who served in the role from 2021 under former President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government.

His appointment has sparked optimism within Ghana’s sports community, with many hoping his leadership will revitalize the sector and restore its previous successes on the international stage.

Adams brings a wealth of political experience to the table, having served as the NDC’s Deputy General Secretary before being elected National Organizer in 2014.

His leadership was further showcased when he coordinated the party’s national campaign during the 2016 elections.

His political acumen has earned him respect across various sectors, both within the NDC and beyond.

However, before officially taking up his role, Adams must first go through the parliamentary vetting process.

As the sports community eagerly awaits the outcome, there is a strong sense of hope that Adams’ leadership will usher in critical reforms aimed at enhancing sports infrastructure, fostering talent development, and improving Ghana’s overall performance on the global sports stage.
