Mustapha Kamoko, the third son of renowned former Ghanaian boxer Bukom Banku, suffered his first career defeat at the hands of undefeated Jordanian boxer Mohammad Issa.
The two faced off in a WBC Youth World Championship bout in Dubai, where Kamoko, known in the ring as “Bukom Machine,” was stopped in the third round after Issa landed a powerful combination of punches.
At just 20 years old, Bukom Machine entered the fight with an undefeated record of eight wins, seven of which came by knockout.
The middleweight boxer, who was fighting outside Ghana for the first time, had hoped to claim the title, but the match ended prematurely when he was unable to continue after the third round.
This defeat marks a significant turning point in Kamoko’s career, which until now had been marked by a string of victories.
He is the third of Bukom Banku’s sons to enter the ring. Bukom Banku, who has a total of 13 children, has seen several of his sons take up boxing.
Despite the setback, the young boxer’s journey is far from over, and the loss could serve as a valuable learning experience as he continues to develop in the sport.
