Accra, Ghana – August 2025 – Ghana will once again take centre stage in shaping Africa’s leadership future as it hosts the 2025 Africa Emerging Leaders Conference and Awards on August 22, 2025, at the British Council Auditorium, Accra. The event, organized by the West African Leadership and Empowerment Centre (WALEC), is themed “Reawakening Africa: A Call to Duty.”
Now in its second edition, the annual conference seeks to ignite a movement among young Africans to step up, lead boldly, and actively contribute to shaping the continent’s future. The platform will bring together a diverse community of emerging leaders, seasoned professionals, policymakers, and change-makers from across Africa to share knowledge, collaborate, and drive meaningful change.
In a statement, Olawale Owoyomi, Executive Director of WALEC, emphasized that the conference is more than just a gathering of young leaders. “This year’s theme is a clarion call to young Africans to rise to the occasion, embrace the responsibility of leadership, and commit to safeguarding the continent’s future. It is about building a network of empowered leaders who are ready to solve Africa’s pressing challenges and unlock its boundless potential.”
The 2025 edition promises a compelling line-up of speakers and thought leaders, including Prof. Enoch Opoku Antwi, Dean of Business Administration, Entrepreneurship & Communication Arts at Academic City University, Accra, Ghana, who will deliver the keynote address. Also featured is Hon. Kemo Bojang, Legislator for the City of Kanifing and Advisor to the Mayor of Kanifing on Youth Matters (The Gambia). 
They will be joined by other influential voices from across West Africa in sessions designed to spark dialogue, inspire innovation, and create actionable solutions.
The event will culminate in the Africa Emerging Leaders Awards, honouring outstanding individuals and organizations that have demonstrated visionary leadership, innovation, and commitment to sustainable development in their communities and beyond.
WALEC envisions the conference as a launchpad for building a collaborative network of leaders passionate about reawakening Africa to its immense potential. Attendees can expect powerful keynote addresses, interactive panel discussions, networking opportunities, and practical workshops designed to leave a lasting impact.
