The United States Embassy in Accra has announced the immediate availability of more than 1,000 non-immigrant visa appointment slots, giving prospective travelers the opportunity to secure interview dates within the next week.

According to the Embassy, a substantial number of B1/B2 visa appointments — reserved for business and tourism travel — are currently open. Applicants have been encouraged to take advantage of the availability while slots remain.

The initiative forms part of broader preparations by the United States to facilitate increased travel ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.

In a notice shared on Facebook on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the Embassy urged individuals planning to apply for a U.S. visa to schedule their interviews without delay.

“There are more than 1,000 B1/B2 visa appointment slots available in the next week – one of those could be yours,” the notice stated.

Applicants who already have interview dates later in the year have also been advised to reschedule for earlier appointments if convenient.

“Book a new appointment – or move up one scheduled for later in the year – we want to interview you now!” the Embassy added.

Prospective applicants have been directed to visit the Embassy’s official visa page for comprehensive information on requirements and application procedures.

The announcement is expected to ease concerns among travelers who have faced extended waiting periods for visa interview appointments in recent months.
