In a bid to support the health and well-being of residents within Shiashie community, Sugarkoated, a unisex fashion boutique and Delvano, an electronics company, recently teamed up to organize a breast cancer screening and awareness campaign.
The event aimed to educate residents on the importance of early detection and to provide free screenings to improve health outcomes for those in their area.
Speaking to MX24 news, Yazi Sangari, owner of Sugarkoated expressed her excitement about the event’s success, especially given the short planning time. “Unfortunenately, due to unforseen circumstances, we were only able to put the event together in only three days. But in the three days, we had a sucessful event. We were able to screen about 69people” she noted. The campaign featured free screenings that helped identify potential health issues for some participants.
During the screening, a lump was discovered in one of the attendees, who has been referred for a complimentary hospital evaluation at Banner Hospital, courtesy of SugarKoated.
The event organizers are already planning to conduct similar health initiatives in the future, with a commitment to making these services accessible to the community at various intervals throughout the year.
This initiative highlights the dedication of local businesses to not only their customers but to the broader community, emphasizing the importance of health and early intervention in preventing serious health outcomes.
