An Accra High Court has granted Bishop Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, parents of Elrad Amoako, whose actions resulted in the crash that claimed two lives at East Legon bail .
Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako who are parents of the suspect driver were arrested by the police on Tuesday and put before the court on Wednesday. Both have been charged with permitting an unlicensed person to drive.
The third accused person, Linda Bempah described by prosecution as a sales assistant at Lilo stitches which belong to brother of the suspect has also been granted the bail.
According to the prosecution’s case, the two individuals admitted during interrogation that they had permitted their child, who is the suspect in this case, to drive to the gym and other locations.
During the court proceedings, the prosecution disclosed that the keys to the Jaguar, owned by Mouha Amoako, the suspect’s mother, were handed over to Elrad by Linda Bempah, who is the third accused person.
On Wednesday, the defense lawyers requested bail for the accused, arguing that they have stable residences, are employed, well-known within the community, and will be available to appear for trial.
They emphasized that the accused have no intention of committing further offenses or obstructing the ongoing investigation.
The defense also urged the court to consider that the charges against the accused are misdemeanors.
Although the prosecution did not contest the bail request, it recommended that stringent conditions be set.
After reviewing the arguments, the judge granted bail to the accused, setting the amount at GH¢50,000 each.
