President Mahama Visits Late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings’ Residence, Announces State Burial

President John Dramani Mahama has paid a solemn visit to the residence of the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings to extend his condolences to the family and honour her remarkable life of public service.

During the visit, President Mahama reflected on the extraordinary legacy of the former First Lady, describing her as a trailblazer in women’s empowerment and national development.

He also announced that Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings will be accorded a state burial with full honours, in recognition of her exceptional service and lasting contributions to Ghana.

The President, accompanied by the First Lady, joined family members, dignitaries, and mourners at the Rawlings residence to offer prayers and messages of solidarity. He also signed the book of condolence opened in her memory.

Nana Konadu, who passed away on October 23, 2025, was widely celebrated for her pioneering leadership in women’s advocacy and as the founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement, which championed women’s rights and community development across Ghana.

Her passing has drawn an outpouring of grief from across the political, social, and civic landscape, as the nation observes a period of mourning for one of its most influential public figures.

Details of the state burial arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
