President John Dramani Mahama has charged the newly inaugurated National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) and Parliament to consolidate Ghana’s various development frameworks into a single, inclusive, and forward-looking national plan.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the 37-member NDPC on Tuesday, May 19, President Mahama emphasized the urgent need for a long-term development agenda that transcends political cycles and reflects the aspirations of all Ghanaians.
“Ghanaians increasingly demand a stable and predictable path for national development that goes beyond our electoral cycles and partisan interests,” the President said.
He specifically called on the NDPC to harmonize key strategic frameworks, including the Ghana Beyond Aid Charter, the Ghana@100 Long-Term Development Framework, and the Vision 2057 Perspective Plan, into a single cohesive roadmap for national development.
“This must be done in close collaboration and consultation with Parliament and the people’s representatives to ensure that the final plan reflects a broad national consensus,” Mahama stated.
He also stressed the importance of regular reviews of the plan to ensure it remains responsive to both domestic priorities and global challenges.
The newly reconstituted commission is chaired by economist Dr. Nii Moi Thompson.
