The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has successfully repatriated 925 undocumented migrants following a recent enforcement operation in Accra, primarily targeting individuals involved in street begging.
The swoop, carried out on Friday, May 16, 2025, led to the arrest of hundreds of migrants.
According to a statement released by the GIS on Monday, May 19, the repatriation process began the following day, Saturday, May 17.
So far, 819 Nigerien nationals and 106 Nigerians have been deported to their home countries. The GIS noted that efforts are ongoing to process and repatriate additional undocumented migrants who were also apprehended during the operation.
The Service reiterated its commitment to enforcing immigration laws and maintaining public order, adding that such operations would continue to ensure compliance with Ghana’s immigration regulations.
