The Bono Regional Police Command has begun investigations into a robbery and murder incident that occurred at Frimps Filling Station in Abesim, within the Sunyani East Municipality, on October 6, 2025.
The incident led to the death of a security guard, identified as Akwasi Addai, believed to be in his late sixties. According to a police statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the victim was found with visible head injuries, lying on the porch of a nearby shop.
Preliminary investigations suggest that unknown assailants broke into the filling station, stole an undisclosed amount of money from an office used for electricity and mobile money transactions, and also ransacked the manager’s office. The attackers reportedly attempted to break into a safe, but it is unclear whether they succeeded.
A crime scene management team recovered a blood-stained axe and a club from the scene, believed to have been used in the attack. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The Bono Regional Police Command says it is working tirelessly to track down the perpetrators and has assured the public of its commitment to bringing those responsible to justice. Members of the public with relevant information are encouraged to assist the investigation.
