The Agona West Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expelled 280 members, including incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Cynthia Morrison, effective December 16, 2024.
The decision, reached unanimously during an Expanded Constituency Executive Committee meeting on December 15, follows allegations of misconduct, including standing as independent candidates, supporting rival parties, and endorsing independent candidates in the recent parliamentary elections.
Constituency Chairman Alhaji Gibrine Tanko stated in a December 16 press release that the expulsion is in line with the party’s constitution, aimed at maintaining discipline and unity.
The expelled members have been indefinitely banned from attending party meetings, holding positions, or using party symbols.
