President John Dramani Mahama has departed Accra for official visits to Japan and Singapore, aimed at strengthening Ghana’s bilateral relations, promoting trade and investment, and advancing cooperation on key development priorities.
In Japan, President Mahama will participate in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX), where he is scheduled to speak at a plenary session under the theme, “The Economy: Promoting Trade and Investment.”
During his visit, he will also headline a Ghana Presidential Investment Forum to showcase investment opportunities and present the “Resetting Ghana” agenda.
President Mahama is expected to hold bilateral talks with senior Japanese officials, including the Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba, the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and representatives from the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO). Key discussion areas will include trade, infrastructure, investment, and technical cooperation.
The second leg of the trip will take the President to Singapore for a three-day visit focused on engaging both government and private sector leaders.
His itinerary includes meetings with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. President Mahama will also attend the Africa-Singapore Business Forum and deliver an address at an investment forum, where he will highlight Ghana’s economic reform agenda and investment potential.
The visits are part of Ghana’s broader efforts to attract foreign investment, increase market access for Ghanaian products and services, and establish strategic partnerships in infrastructure, finance, technology, and human capital development.
